Doing Your Best & Leaving The Rest

Preparing for your future is a combination of personal responsibility and diligence combined with trust. Your part comes first, His comes later. Once you have taken the time to really think it over, you should realize how much there is that you can actually do to prepare yourself and/or your family for the crises that life inevitably brings along from time to time.

Set up the best savings plan you can manage, then review and adjust it periodically. Organize all the important documents that pertain to your legal and financial matters. Then, when you have enrolled in the necessary insurance plans discussed above, you can take a deep breath and feel a sense of accomplishment.

Of course, no one can foresee every situation, but with the proactive planning above, you have at least done the responsible things and the rest is in God’s hands.

An Unshakable Foundation

Preparing for the unexpected is just one more way of exercising the stewardship principles found in God’s Word. According to one author, “stewardship is the act of organizing your life so that God can spend you.” As you faithfully organize your life and finances, never forget the ultimate goal—God wants to spend you!

When God finds men and women who have faithfully set their personal finances in order, there is no limit to what He can accomplish through them! Winds may blow and storms may come, but the one whose finances are anchored in the principles of the Word of God will remain standing:

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock” (Matthew 7:24, 25, NIV).

God doesn’t want you to just survive the storm, however. He wants you to be a blessing to those around you who are going through the storms of life! As we build our finances on the truths of God’s Word, let us believe for Him to use our time, talents, and resources for His glory.
