Show me a person deep in debt and I’ll show you a person who feels in bondage.  He/she is so burdened down with the heavy load of debt, it is like becoming a servant to his/her creditors.  They work all day for days on end just to meet their payment obligations to their debtors. 

 

They gladly volunteer for all the overtime they can get, work a part-time job in the evenings or on weekends, all for the purpose of getting a larger paycheck so they can turn it over to someone else. 

 

Well, all this is not breaking news.  They knew about it long before they borrowed the money. 

 

We can read about it in Scripture.  “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender” (Proverbs 22:7).
