In the story of the feeding of the five thousand, Christ recognized the need of the crowd of people. Knowing that the people were hungry and should be fed, He took stock of the available resources. All they could find was a lad with five loaves and two fishes. So Christ used that. Through the miracle of multiplication, the entire multitude was fed. Instead of resting in the praise of the contented participants, Jesus was very concerned that nothing be wasted.
