Living Life Just For Yourself?

Do you ever find yourself thinking about different types of people, and how many exceptional individuals it takes to make up our world? We all come in a variety of personalities and packages. Our uniqueness comes from our DNA, our families, our life experiences, our education, our exposure, our friends, etc. Fashioned, shaped and molded as a sum total of all of these things, we become the person we are. Our individual needs, wants and desires mold the beliefs and perspectives and paradigms we now embrace.

Some people have an all for me attitude and just want to live life solely for themselves. Many search self-fulfillment to the point of being totally oblivious to the plight of the world around them. Some seek to become wealthy, but not to bless others. Instead they focus on serving themselves up with the good life. Scriptures tell us, and we also discover this by practical experience, that possessions are temporary and that one should not make the mistake of holding on to them too tightly.

Instead of choosing to live life just for yourself, why not enter into God’s financial provision and seek to obtain His favor. We need His favor in our lives; in our personal life, in our business life and in all that we purpose to do. When we experience Divine provision, we need to understand why we have been so greatly blessed by God.

If is my belief that for every person, God has a plan. For every plan He has a purpose. And that purpose is ultimately that we might become a blessing to others. That as God supernaturally provides for us, we in turn will not be one who dams up the river of blessing, but one who becomes a conduit so the blessings flow to others.

To spend a lifetime gathering temporary possessions but neglecting the important treasures that last an eternity would be very foolish indeed. When we are focused on the here and now and on things of temporary value we fail to think and see eternally. For my life, I need to treasure those things that have eternal and kingdom value.

What about you? Are you living in the purpose of God? Are you operating in the plan He designed for your life? Are you giving to others as you are blessed yourself? Wouldn’t it be great if wherever we go, we become a blessing? And with whomever we meet, we decide to become a blessing. And whatever we put our hands to, we are a blessing. This I do know, that I have been blessed for a purpose!

Still one of my favorite Scriptures is this one from Matthew 6:19-21. It says, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject!
