The First Step: Prayer

The first course of action is to go to God in repentance and forgiveness for mishandling that which He has entrusted to you. Remember that in your borrowing, you promised to repay. In essence, you made a vow when you incurred debt. While borrowing or lending for that matter is not necessarily wrong or prohibited in Scripture, it is discouraged in a number of Scriptures. When you get into trouble because of your own unwise choices and bad decisions, while God will help you find a way out, it will not be at the expense of defrauding those to whom you go. Forgiveness is always available, but the consequences of our wrong remain.
