To desire great wealth and to spend a lifetime in search of prosperity and affluence is to abuse the time on earth that God has given to each of us. But to use money as a tool, rather than a means to accumulate material goods, is the best route to take.

You may have noticed that it is not having money itself, rather the love of money, that is said to be evil. Some people would rather ruin their health for money. Others tread on friendships and the innocence of others to enable them to accumulate the goods and riches of this world.

Of course, if you stop and think about it, neither money nor fame can guarantee happiness. Countless celebrities and countless people of wealth could attest to a life of shallow existence. The Scriptures make it clear that we have brought nothing into this world and it is certain that we can carry nothing out. Any natural accumulation of money is only handed down in our wills to someone else. But one thing is sure. While earthly accumulation cannot help us in our death, it is clear that the spiritual treasures which can be accumulated while we are still on this earth will pass with us to eternity.

Lives that are chaotic with materialism are unfulfilled, but peace and contentment from above are priceless. If we know Jesus Christ, we are eternally rich. If we live only for the pleasures of this life, we are eternally poor. In Christ, all believers have been given a position of prestige, honor and privilege as heirs of God and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ. We do not have to wait for death to make our promised inheritance a reality. According to Scripture, He bestows His blessings upon us daily.
