Breaking Free From the Bondage of Debt

If you are going to rescue your life and liberate your future by breaking free from your bondage of debt, not only will you be repaying current debt, but you must also not add any new debt. You ought to consider deciding once and for all that you will not take on new debt and not become a slave to your old habits. Decide that you will not borrow new money for any reason or purchase additional merchandise on credit. When it comes to personal finances, the Bible clearly teaches that debt is a big fat negative and it is to be avoided, if at all possible.

Becoming debt free is only the beginning. The simple truth is that getting out of debt is only the first step. That is how you get to the starting point. Staying out of debt and moving forward to financial independence – that’s the bigger challenge. And that’s where the big rewards await.

People can become disciplined, pay off their existing debt and have made it to the starting line. Are they progressing or did they mistake the starting line for the finish line? How many of them grabbed the prize and went back to their old ways of living and thinking?

Many people have repaid a boatload of debt, only to fall back into the temptation and into the old ways of piling up debt. How can we encourage people to not stop…but move on to the next level and beyond? Is it possible to win over debt for a lifetime?
